Come back Biggest boxer in the Ring “Manny Pacquiao” boxing on Nov. 5 in Las Vegas when he takes on WBO welterweight champion Jesse Vargas at the Thomas and Mack Center.
The fight will be a pay-per-view event, but Pacquiao will not be fighting on an HBO presentation this time, as Top Rank boss Bob Arum has decided to do the pay-per-view production himself. Arum told RingTV.com that he hopes to change the “status quo” of pay-per-view productions with this move.
If Pacquiao beats Vargas, it would seem to fit the requests of Mayweather for his 50th professional fight as he said he’ll likely want a title fight — Pacquiao would be WBO champion — and will need a nine-figure payday. A spring date would also allow Mayweather to fight on his favorite weekend of the year, Cinco de Mayo weekend.
